SECURITY MEASURES & IMPROVEMENTS
Every school district around the nation continues to focus on
safety & security measures within their schools. Based on
statistics, school still remains to be the safest place for
our children. However, we know we must continue to assess and
provide a safe and secure environment in which our children
can learn. Here's a glance at the measures taken &
improvements made in the Waterford School District :
Awarded the 2004 & 2006 Emergency Response
& Crisis Management Federal Grant.
Awarded the Homeland Security Grant from
the State of
Michigan.
Developed a school
advisory system that informs staff of the current district
threat level.
Implemented a District
Incident Command System that establishes roles and
responsibilities in accordance with National Incident
Management System (NIMS) guidelines
Purchased first-aid
kits for every classroom throughout the District.
Delivered ongoing CPR
training and re-certification training for District employees
Conducted evacuation
exercise with Waterford Police & Fire Departments
Developed electronic
crisis management forms for District employee access
Developed guidelines
and procedures for implementing security checks on coaching
staff and volunteers.
Installed AEDs
(automated external defibrillators) in every District
building.
Installed security
cameras in all secondary school buildings.
Purchased mobil AED
(automated external defibrillators) for athletic event use.
Installed additional
Access Control Systems, now totaling 10 in District buildings.
Revised the
Waterford
School District
Code of Conduct.
Enhanced evening
security at school buildings.
Revised emergency maps
for all school and support buildings throughout the District.
Developed student
heath care plans and updated student immunization records.
