School & Community Services provides a variety of integrated services including strategic internal and external communications, multimedia such web, audio, video, and printed publications, marketing, and advertising. The  Department manages a comprehensive communications & marketing plan that builds, promotes, and supports two-way mutually beneficial relationships between the Waterford School District and the Waterford Community. The Department strives to provide accurate and timely information to the public it serves regarding achievement, District initiatives and programs, budget priorities, bond and millage campaigns, and special events.

School & Community Services also provides many integrated services that benefit the schools and community. Those services are, but not limited to, Health & Wellness, Facility Usage, Pool & Fitness Centers, and Community Education programming.
 

Services

  • Public Information
    Serving as the media liaison, School & Community Services provides timely and accurate information to the news media and community. The public information officer serves as the District spokesperson for the Waterford School District and works closely with the local media to provide necessary District information and achievements.   • Community Partnerships
    Community involvement and partnerships are vital to offering opportunities to Waterford School District students. School & Community Services serves as a liaison to develop new and maintain existing community partnerships. Contact lesser01@wsdmi.org

  • Multimedia
    School & Community Services is responsible for providing the creative and technical directions to the school & district programs and publications including In the News, Kettering Current, and Mott Wave. The Department is also responsible for all District brochures, press releases, and other special publications including advertising. Contact lesser01@wsdmi.org.

  • District Website
    The content and design of the award-winning website is the responsibility of School & Community Services. The Waterford Community can obtain information about school enrollment, athletics, calendar of events, curriculum, nutrition, staff directory, and a variety of other information on our website.   • Channel 22, The Information Station
    The Waterford School District and community receive a variety of audio and video services through programming, satellite, and video technologies. Those include: Educational Channel 22; Channel 49 Internal Channel; A Closer Look News Magazine; Waterford Board of Education Meetings; and District radio station. Contact

  • Pool & Fitness Centers
    The Waterford School District operates two Pool & Fitness Centers located on the campuses of Kettering and Mott High Schools. School & Community Services is responsible for the daily operations of these facilities including school & community usage and programming. Contact dumarm01@wsdmi.org.

  • Community Education
    Enrichment classes, for all ages, are available through community education. While part of the Continuing Education area, School & Community Services is responsible for providing this valuable educational programming to the community. Contact lesser01@wsdmi.org.

  • Facility Usage
    The community usage of the Waterford School District’s facilities and athletic fields is managed by School & Community Services. Interested individuals, groups, or organizations can rent the facilities for meetings, athletic events, or various special events. Contact luckec01@wsdmi.org.

  • Health & Wellness
    School & Community Services manages the District Health & Wellness efforts including student plans of care, student immunization compliance and AED/CPR/First Aid training. jaroii01@wsdmi.org.

  • Safety & Security Preparedness/Communication
    School & Community Services oversees the federal Emergency Response & Crisis Management Grant (2004, 2006) and serves as the project manager for the grant. Contact lesser01@wsdmi.org
