The Waterford School District
is proud of the programs and services that are provided to meet
the needs of students. Parents are important members of the
educational team that help to determine the appropriate programs
and services for their child.
The Waterford School District
offers a full continuum of services to identified students. Special education services are available at all of the
district's schools.
Student Support Services is the primary referral source of all suspected and
certified special education students under the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEAIA). Also, the department services all those
students eligible under
Section 504.
Services
-
Homebound Homebound/Hospitalized Services are provided to a student with a
medical condition that keeps the student from attending school. Parent(s) or an adult
must be in the home at the time of
the instruction. The student’s classroom teacher(s) provides
instructional materials to the homebound/hospitalized teacher
who in turn takes the work to the student for completion, helps
with any problems, and in addition returns work to the student’s
teacher.
-
Non-Public Schools

provides special education support services for students with
disabilities attending registered non-public schools within the

Project Find
"Child
Find" is a federal component of the individuals with
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
"Project Find "is Michigan's term for "Child Find". The project
is funded by the Michigan Department of Education, Office of
Special Education and Early Intervention Services. Its purpose
is to locate, identify and refer those individuals who may be
eligible to receive special education services in Michigan.
"Project Find" searches for children and youth ages 3 to 26
years of age who have disabilities in areas such as physical,
social-emotional, speech & language, or cognitive impairments
that may affect his or her educational performance. These
conditions may make the child or youth eligible for special
education services provided by the public school system in
Michigan. The services are governed by special education rules.
If you
