Individuals volunteering for the mentoring program must be 21 and older. They must be able to meet with a student a minimum of 2 hours/week for at least one year for the Community Based Mentoring Program and a minimum of 1 hour/week for a least one year for the Site Based Mentoring Program. Mentors will complete a screening process and receive 6-9 hours of training prior to being matched. Once matched, mentors will receive information on monthly program sponsored activities and receive support regularly from program staff.

 To get started as a volunteer:

  1. Contact Mentoring Program Director Teresa Bruno at brunot01@wsdmi.org or 248.421-6497.

  2. Sign up for an orientation session.

  3. Complete the screening process.

  4. Attend trainings.
