The Waterford
School District seeks to provide every child, regardless of national origin
or native language, quality, and meaningful educational instruction.
Consequently, students who are limited-English proficient (LEP) are provided
instructional services through an English as a Second Language
(ESL)/Bilingual program which is designed to meet their unique needs.
Limited English Proficient indicates that a student has yet to demonstrate grade equivalent proficiency in any of the language areas: speaking, listening, reading (including comprehension of content reading) or writing. |
| A student's English proficiency is assessed when a student's first language is not English OR if the student comes from a home where another language used may have a significant impact on the student's proficiency in English. | |
