The Waterford Success Program has served
the Waterford School District since 1998. This prevention program deals with
students in grades kindergarten through seventh and their families.
Principals, teachers, and social workers identify student having a high
level of absences, 10 or more per school year, and refer them to the Success
Program. Most the the student have also been identified as having other risk
indicators. For example, parents divorced/separated, sibling involved with
the judicial system, poor peer relations, failure to academically perform at
grade level or ability.
The family-driven program works to meet
the unique needs of each gamily. The program provides monthly support
meetings, parenting and drug prevention education, student support services,
and referrals to local services agencies. The student's school social worker
provides support and addresses the individual needs of each student. |
